Fruitland Township

Road Safety Letters

There are several areas in Fruitland Township where road safety has been an ongoing concern. The Board of Trustees passed two Resolutions that have been submitted to the Muskegon County Road Commission requesting changes to address two specific concerns. In an effort to bolster the Township’s requests, we put together letters that residents can fill out and send to the Muskegon County Road Commission to show their support for the proposed changes.

#1: The Township Board believes there needs to be a traffic signal at Riley Thompson and Whitehall Rd. Due to the limited visibility and the increased traffic from Michigan’s Adventure in the summer, that intersection causes many accidents and is a danger to public safety.

If you would like to support this change, please fill out this letter and send it to the Muskegon County Road Commission (contact information below):

#2: The speed limit on Nestrom Rd between Duck Lake Rd and Wabaningo Rd has been 45 mph. Due to a change in Michigan Motor Code, the 45 mph section of that road has been rescinded, and the speed limit will be increased to 55 mph. Due to the limited visibility over the hill, as well as the presence of Nestrom Park in that section of the road, the Township Board believes the speed limit for that portion of Nestrom Rd should be reduced to 35 mph.

If you would like to support this change, please fill out this letter and send it to the Muskegon County Road Commission (contact information below):
